"Sex Sells".

The media has objectified women throughout time--however, in today's day and age, this objectification has come to represent the standard for beauty.

Does a woman have to be sexy to be considered beautiful by society?  How has the "sexy" phenomenon affected women's beauty, body, and self image?

this video depicts everything that is wrong with the way the media represents women today. Not only is the media telling us that these women are the ideal in terms of beauty and body and sexuality, but it is degrading women in the associations created with their male counterparts and hidden sexual messages used to sell the designers, products, and magazines.

This video is too great of a representation of society's distorted perception of women and the media's use of advertising to sell products by selling women. Absolutely degrading--and it's unbelievable that this stuff is accepted in such a "civilized" nation.

Sexy is basically the new standard added to the media's already complex, multi-layered, and contradicting definition of a woman's beauty. The "Sexy" girl is depicted as the most desirable by men. The influence on girls and women and society can be seen everywhere--with girls choosing to wear very revealing clothes for more sex appeal, applying a certain type of make-up look to be more sultry,..even behavioral changes in terms of acting certain ways to appear more sexy. In a different arena, entertainers have created more sexy profiles and whereas before singers and actresses could be very popular in the mainstream primarily based on their talents, the "image" that needs to created to generate a fanbase has become very sexualized.

the media objectifies women in the process of telling us how we should look and dress to be beautiful?!! what has our society come to? and why are these women okay with modeling and representing women as something to be priced and sold. the media won't stop setting these standards for beauty and negatively affecting women in so many ways unless we stop listening to them!!!
